Do I need to Double Cleanse?

Updated: Nov 11

"Do I really need to cleanse my face twice?"

YES! Double cleansing is crucial for your skin health and easy to do.

The WHY: This only needs to be done during your nighttime regimen. The first cleanse removes dirt, oil, sunscreen, and makeup, while the second cleanse truly cleans your skin. This process will leave you with a deep clean and help your other skincare products penetrate your skin better. In the morning, double cleansing is not necessary—a nice single wash with your favorite cleanser will do! Pro Tip: Even if you don't wear makeup, double cleansing is still important because sunscreen should be worn every day. The first cleanse is key to removing sunscreen and oil. When in doubt, always double cleanse!

A line of skincare products at SkinCoLAB called No Filter.

Guide to Double Cleansing

1. First Cleanse:

- Apply the oil-based Pre Cleansing Oil Cleanser to dry hands and massage into your skin to remove makeup, sunscreen, and oil.

- Rinse your face with lukewarm water.

2. Second Cleanse:

- With your face still damp, apply your favorite cleanser.

- Massage it into your skin and rinse again with lukewarm water.

Here are some of our top recommendations for your second cleanse from the pros at Skin CoLAB:

Alastin Gentle Cleanser (2nd cleanse, all skin types)

ZO Hydrating Cleanser (2nd cleanse, dry & dehydrated skin)

SCL No Filter Face + Body Wash (2nd cleanse, acne-prone skin)

3. Drying:

- Instead of using a facial cloth, use single-use Clean Skin Towels to avoid transferring bacteria onto your skin.

4. Finish:

- Apply your skin regimen and feel fresh!

By following these steps, you can ensure your skin is thoroughly cleansed and ready to absorb your skincare products more effectively. Want to learn more? Schedule your skin care consultation at Skin CoLAB in Downtown Ada or stop in anytime to chat Monday-Friday 9-5, Saturday 9-Noon!
